SANTA POLA

Extensive white sand beaches, plenty of beach bars, unique monuments, and of course a renowned salt exploitation. This Alicante city is not only a peaceful place to spend a seaside vacation, but also a destination full of activities for the whole family.

Very close to the city center itself, you will find a large number of extensive beaches and small picturesque coves. To the west of Santa Pola, you will find the Salinas de Santa Pola, a natural reserve for the conservation of wild birds. The park has an extensive surface area of ​​2,470 hectares. In the reserve, you will find the Salt Museum, where you can learn about the salt extraction process and its history. The enormous ‘icebergs’ jump out at the visitor.

Another attraction of Santa Pola is its water sports activity. Very often its beaches are the perfect setting for windsurfing and kitesurfing, among other water sports. The best beaches for this are Gran Playa, Playa Lisa, Playa Tamarit, and Playa de la Gola. There are several specialized shops around these beaches where you can rent equipment and enroll in classes.

Other water sports options in Santa Pola include sailing, rowing, kayaking, diving, and snorkeling.

If you have considered visiting Alicante and its surroundings, Santa Pola is a recommended tourist destination for its beaches, salt reserve, hiking trails with great richness of flora and fauna, and also its historical monuments such as the fortress in Plaza de la Glorieta. The castle or fortress dates back to the 16th century and its main objective was to protect local sailors against frequent pirate attacks.

For the little ones in the house, a visit to Pola Park cannot be missed, a 24,000 m2 theme park with 30 attractions such as slides, flying chairs, a roller coaster, a pirate ship, go-karts, mini-golf, and much more. Not only do children enjoy it, but the whole family, and it also has many establishments to eat or have a drink.

Another great option for a family activity is to visit the Santa Pola Municipal Aquarium, which not only results in an entertaining activity but also has educational activities that bring the little ones closer to the world of natural sciences.
